SAFE, CAREFULLY MONITORED SEDATION WHEN YOUR CHILD NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
Creating a positive experience for every child is our first goal — and we achieve it without sedation most of the time through patience, gentle technique, and a calm, child-centered approach.
For children who struggle significantly with dental anxiety, have extensive treatment needs, or require additional support for any reason, we offer carefully monitored sedation options.
The option we recommend is always based on your child's specific needs, medical history, and what you're comfortable with as a parent.

For the majority of dental procedures, local anesthesia is all we need to keep your child completely comfortable. Applied carefully after a topical numbing cream, these injections prevent pain signals while your child remains fully awake and aware. We take our time, explain each step, and check in with your child throughout. The effects typically wear off within two to three hours.
For children who feel nervous about dental appointments but don't need full sedation, nitrous oxide strikes the perfect balance. It reduces anxiety without creating unconsciousness, has an excellent safety record in pediatric dentistry, and wears off almost instantly when removed. Children often describe it as feeling relaxed, a little floaty, or slightly tingly. Many children who need nitrous early eventually outgrow the need for it as their comfort builds.
For children who require more extensive treatment, have significant dental anxiety that doesn't respond to lighter sedation options, or have special needs that make cooperation difficult, in-office IV sedation may be the appropriate choice. IV sedation produces a deeper level of relaxation — children are typically in a sleep-like state but can be roused — and allows us to complete more comprehensive treatment in a single appointment. IV sedation is administered by a trained professional and monitored continuously throughout the procedure.
